Unfortunately, Privacy cannot cancel an authorization or transaction in progress. This includes transactions in a “Pending” or “Settling” state.
Transactions using Privacy Virtual Cards are processed in multiple steps. (Find out more info about transaction states here.)
Once a transaction has been authorized, the merchant is given permission to collect the necessary funds to cover the cost. This permission is unable to be revoked, but the merchant can choose not to complete the transaction or to refund it.
Please contact the merchant to cancel or refund your purchase.
What happens if the merchant cancels the transaction?
If the merchant cancels the purchase, your funding source won't be debited.
What happens if the merchant refunds the transaction?
If the merchant refunds the purchase, we will process the refund back to the original funding source used to make the transaction. (Check here for more info on how refunds work).
What happens if the merchant cannot/won’t cancel or refund the transaction?
If the merchant is unable to refund or cancel a transaction that was charged to your account in error, you can open a dispute by selecting the transaction on your Privacy Dashboard and choosing "Open Dispute" at the bottom of the transaction window. A member of our Disputes Team will promptly investigate your claim.
