The Privacy Browser Extension is currently available for Google Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari.
The extension enables you to generate new virtual card numbers and autofill existing card numbers each time you checkout online. Privacy Cards generated with this method have the same functionalities.
When the merchant prompts you to enter your card number, you will need to click the card number field to display the "P" icon. Click this icon to choose a virtual card to autofill.
After selecting the "P" icon, a window will open and give you the option to either create a new card or select from a list of suggested cards that you may have previously used with the merchant.
Once you’ve found the card you’d like to use or have generated a new card, click Autofill Card at the bottom of the extension window.
Privacy will automatically fill in the card number, expiration date, and CVV. We advise double-checking that the card details populate into the correct fields before moving on to the next step of the checkout process.
Generating a new card takes place entirely through the extension, and there is no need to navigate to Privacy’s website or mobile application to complete this step.
How do I manage cards created with the Privacy Browser Extension?
The extension will allow you to unpause, pause, close, or change the limits of a card. To pause/unpause a card, click the pause/play icon toward the top right corner of the extension window.
To close a card, click the "..." icon and select Close Card from the dropdown menu.
Selecting Collapse Card will pin the card details to the top right corner of your browser for easy viewing.
Cards generated with the Privacy Browser Extension can also be managed via the website or mobile app, just like your other cards.
The Privacy Browser Extension for iOS
We recently launched a browser extension for iOS Safari! This extension functions similarly to our desktop version but integrates directly with iPhones and iPads.
You will need to have the latest version of the Privacy iOS app downloaded on your iPhone/iPad in order to use the iOS extension. Once downloaded, tap the aA (puzzle icon on iPad) in the address bar, then choose Manage Extensions. From there, turn on the Privacy Extension and tap Done. That's it!
