What is a passkey?
Passkeys are a secure way to log in to websites and apps using your fingerprint, face, or device PIN, and do not require a password.
Unlike passwords, passkeys can’t be stolen or phished because they rely on cryptographic keys that never leave your device. They’re stored securely within your device’s built-in system, like iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager, and sync automatically across your devices.
If you prefer, third-party password managers such as 1Password, Bitwarden, or Proton Pass also support passkeys and can be used with your Privacy account.
How do I create and use a passkey with my Privacy account?
You can create a passkey to make signing in to your Privacy account faster and more secure.
Desktop
Passkeys can be created and managed from your Account page under Security. Look for Passkeys and click the purple + button to create a new passkey.
Follow the prompts from your device or password manager to complete setup.
Mobile app
Passkeys can be created and managed from the Security section of your Account page.
Tap Security, then look for Passkeys and tap the purple Add Passkey button.
Follow your device’s on-screen prompts to confirm setup.
After your passkey has been added to Privacy, you’ll be asked to name it. If you use multiple devices that each require a separate passkey (for example, an Android phone and an Apple computer), choose names that help you tell them apart.
How do I log in with a passkey?
Next time you sign in to your Privacy account, select Log in with Passkey.
If you've added a passkey to your Privacy account, you will still be able to log in using your password. Both options will be available each time you log in.
