Privacy subscriptions are billed on the same date each month that you originally subscribed. For example, if you subscribed on the 15th, you'll be billed on the 15th of each month going forward.
If you subscribed at the very end of the month (like the 30th or 31st), your billing will occur on the closest available prior date, since months vary in length. This ensures consistent billing even when your original subscription date doesn't exist in shorter months.
You can check your next billing date and manage your subscription anytime in your account settings.
Billing FAQs
Do you offer annual plans?
Yes! You can find information on pricing and features for annual plans by logging into your Privacy Account page, navigating to the Subscription section and selecting Change Plan.
You can also find this information on our mobile app by tapping Your Plan on the Account tab and visiting Manage Plan.
How does billing work if I upgrade plans?
Upgrading gives you a partial credit for the remaining time on your current plan and applies it toward the new one depending on where you are in the billing cycle.
Let’s use an example
I’m currently subscribed to Privacy Plus ($5) monthly with a billing date of the 15th. If I upgrade to Privacy Pro ($10) on the 30th, I’ll be charged the difference between the full price of Privacy Pro ($10) and the partial credit for the remaining time on Privacy Plus ($2.50) for a total of $7.50. My billing date is now this new day, the 30th, and I'll immediately begin to receive all the benefits of Privacy Pro.
How does billing work if I downgrade plans?
Downgrading only affects the charge on your next billing date.
Let’s use an example
I’m currently subscribed to Privacy Pro ($10) monthly with a billing date of the 15th. If I downgrade to Privacy Plus ($5) on the 30th, I’ll keep my Privacy Pro subscription benefits until the 15th of next month. On that date my plan will switch to Privacy Plus and I’ll be charged $5.
How does billing work if I switch from monthly to annual?
Once your current monthly billing period ends, you’ll automatically start being billed once a year instead of once a month.
How does billing work if I switch from annual to monthly?
We don't currently offer in-app switching from annual to monthly. We recommend canceling your subscription (you'll still maintain benefits until your annual plan expires) and re-subscribing to a monthly plan at your annual plan's end date.
How does billing work if I cancel my subscription?
You get to keep all the benefits of your subscription until your next billing date. Once that day comes, your subscription will expire. You won’t be billed for future months/years and any benefits will no longer apply to your account unless you re-subscribe.
