Single-Use Cards are a unique type of virtual card that automatically close after a first transaction. This protects you from any further charges being approved on the card. Single-Use Cards are available across all Privacy paid plans.
How does a Single-Use Card work?
Single-Use Cards are designed to close automatically after you make an initial transaction. There are different types of authorizations merchants can make for initial transactions, so Single-Use Card behavior is different depending on the authorization amount.
- If the initial authorization is greater than $1, and is successful, then the card will automatically close after that transaction is authorized.
- If the initial authorization is $0 and successful, or the initial authorization is declined for any reason, the card will close automatically 24 hours later. This time delay is intended to give you a chance to make a transaction greater than $1 with the same card, if you still wish to do so.
If a merchant tries to charge you after the card has been automatically closed, we will decline that transaction on your behalf.
