2FA, or two-factor authentication, is a security method used to secure accounts. 2FA requires an additional form of verification in order to access your Privacy Account. In order to enable 2FA, you’ll need to have a two-factor authentication app that supports TOTP. Your 2FA codes can be located in the two-factor authentication app that you use.
If you see this prompt when attempting to log into your Privacy Account, you can find your Access Code by navigating to your 2FA app.
OTP, or One-Time Passcode, is a single-use numerical passcode. OTP is a form of 2FA, but they’re not the same thing! Your OTP is emailed to you when you log into your Privacy Account on a new device.
If you see this prompt when attempting to log into your Privacy Account, check the email associated with your Privacy Account. The email contains a little bit of information about the login attempt, like the device, time, and IP, as well as the access code.
If you’re having trouble getting your OTP email, please check your spam filters.
For security, we will email you an OTP whenever a new device is attempting to log into your Privacy Account. Enabling 2FA will ensure that your Privacy Account is secure and you’ll no longer be prompted for OTP codes through your email.
